The first of the framing lumber arrived at the site on Monday. Too bad it rained Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. In the meantime, I’ve started shopping for the new house and I’m giving a serious nod and a wink to a coastal vibe for my decor.

The framing guys did get a little work done on Monday morning before the rains came. And I’m learning patience along the way. It will be finished when it’s finished.

So, my first purchases have arrived for the new house – the butler’s pantry sink and faucet. I’m using a guest room in my current home to store purchases.

Also, I’ve been making inspiration boards for many of my rooms and I think I’m addicted. I want to be a designer when I grow up.

Coastal Vibe Modern Farmhouse

I’ve finally narrowed down pendant lighting. My kitchen cabinets will be white and the island will be navy. The countertops will be white with gray veining – probably quartzite.

I’ve had a navy and white color scheme picked out for years. Add some wooden elements and some pretty brass hardware, a touch of gray, and I’m one happy camper.

Kitchen Appliances

My kitchen appliances are on backorder. They were ordered at the beginning of January and I pray they get here before it’s time to move in. That’s how far back ordered they are!

Just like I had my color scheme chosen way in advance, I also had my heart set on a Wolf 42″ range top. It’s been my dream for years.

If you know anything about appliance brands, you know Wolf kitchen appliances are not cheap. I didn’t really care to have a sub-zero fridge but the Wolf was a done deal.

Until it wasn’t.

I’m a research addict and I have looked at all the different appliances for a long time. It’s enough to make your head spin.

When I saw the GE Café appliances, I fell in love with the french door matte white double ovens. I’m telling you, it was love at first sight. Plus, they have the air fryer built-in.

Originally, I was going for all stainless steel. I’ve had stainless appliances for years. I’m on my second generation SS fridge and stove. It was always going to be SS.

Then it wasn’t. I fell totally in love with that french door double oven and decided to go all-in with the complete line of Café Matte White appliances.

So now I’m having a Café 5-burner cooktop instead of the Wolf range top. I chose the double ovens over the range top. I’m happy and I saved mega-bucks. It’s a win-win!

Statement Pendant Lights With A Coastal Vibe

Pendant lights come in all shapes and sizes. I do believe I’ve seen them all. But none of them really spoke to me until I found the perfect pendants.

These pendants speak to my love of all things coastal. I grew up spending most vacations at the beach. I’ve been loving the beach for a long, long time. Until Covid hit, my husband and I visited a Caribbean Island every year for 2-3 weeks and I often joke about living on an island. It would be a blast.

I happened to be strolling through Instagram one evening when I saw a photo of the pendants on a designer’s feed. Thankfully, she tagged the designer.

The pendant designer’s name is Grace and she lives in Bali. (The pic below is from her Etsy shop)

Grace makes all the pendants by hand (as well as many other pendant types, placemats, etc.) and sells them all over the world. I ordered them from her shop on Etsy. Click here to see the pendants!

Frankly, the price of the two 20″ pendants was a little bit more than I wanted to spend. But the more I looked at them, the more I knew I had to have them.

When I ordered the pendants, I saved $150 for ordering two. That sealed the deal. So, I have pendants being handmade in Bali and will be on their way to me soon.

The pendants will hang over the kitchen island. I want them to make a statement. Even though I love a white, light, and bright kitchen, I don’t want it to look sterile or bland.

Counter Stools For My Kitchen Island

Because I have a large family and serve most meals buffet style, I knew I didn’t want bulky chairs with backs for the island. Again, I was cruising Instagram (my favorite social media) and saw my coastal vibe stools on that same designer’s page.

The stools are made by Coastal Living Home. It took a while to track these stools down and again, they were more than I wanted to spend. My research paid off when I found a furniture store nearby that could order the stools for me. And, I’m getting them for over half-off the prices I saw online. Score!

I ordered four and they will ship in April.

I’ve learned that most things are on backorder due to the pandemic and many factories being closed for a while and trying to catch up.

That’s why I’m not getting impatient. Everyone is doing the best they can and we’re going to make it. I just know it!

Coastal Vibe Breakfast Nook Decor

Below is my inspiration board for my breakfast nook. I haven’t ordered anything on here yet. It’s just a board of things I like.

Since the kitchen and breakfast area are open concept, I wanted to keep the lighting simple since I’m making a statement with the pendants. I love the light wood tone against the white shells in the light below.

The chair is actually a dark navy and I’m still on the fence with the chairs. I love the chair back details and would probably replace or recover the cushions.

Lanai Dreams With A Coastal Look

Again, this is just my first step in creating a peaceful and serene lanai (back porch). Nothing is set in stone until I actually start ordering the pieces I love.

Search For The Perfect Bathtub

My master bath calls for a built-in tub but I like the simplicity of a freestanding tub. Frankly, I’m a shower person and the tub is for my husband. He likes a good soak occasionally.

If it was up to me, I’d do away with the tub in the master.

However, since my husband has only asked for four things in our new build, I picked out the tub with him in mind. It’s heated, jetted and I think the water changes colors. Hey, I might like it myself.
