Modern Farmhouse Decor Ideas
We have been in our new home for a little over two weeks. We have most of our boxes unpacked (I think!) and we’re beginning to settle in. Now it’s time for the fun part – Modern Farmhouse Decor Ideas!
The first couple of nights in our new house were kinda different. I told my husband that it felt like we were on vacation – well, except for all the unpacking.
Because it took so long for the house to be built, I had an entire guest room of new house stuff (including all the light fixtures, etc.) You can find most of the items in my new house by clicking here!
We still don’t have any window coverings up unless you count the white trash bags taped over the bottom of the master bathroom windows. Hey, it works for now.
The navy sofas (above) will be going up to the bonus room as soon as my new sofas arrive. Excuse the cords, we are still moving in. π
What’s Next On The Agenda?
Speaking of windows, I have an in-house consultation scheduled for next week with a window treatment company to talk about shades.
I really don’t want anything covering my beautiful windows. But, alas, the sun rises in my master bath windows and almost blinds me when I’m trying to do my makeup. And talking about showing all the flaws – wowzers.
Also, for about 30 minutes when the sun is setting, it streams through two sets of windows into the great room so I’m going to try to find the most non-invasive window shades.
I’m not doing curtains at all. The window trim is too beautiful to cover those bad boys up. I pray I find shades that work.
Landscaping Update
I met with the sod company again and this time they brought along the landscaper so we went over my vision and then the landscaper walked around the yard with his sketchpad. I look forward to receiving a rendering of his landscaping proposal.
The grading/irrigation/sodding etc. should begin around mid to late May.
Modern Farmhouse Decor
The fun part is just beginning and that means it’s time to start the decorating.
If you’ve been following me for long, you know my house leans toward the modern part of farmhouse decor with a nod to my love of all things coastal.
My favorite color is navy blue and you’ll find touches all through the house. I’m really into weaving in touches of coastal throughout my home.
These woven abaca seatsΒ on my barstools by Coastal Living are just the thing to add an organic coastal vibe.
The stools are so sturdy and wide. I thought I’d need four stools for my 8-foot island, but in reality, three fit perfectly. I’m using the 4th stool at my makeup vanity in my bathroom.
Please Note: I snapped these photos with my phone while writing this post. I’ll be taking better photos later and will share them with you. Just keeping it real.
Below you’ll find some of my favorite ways to decorate. I’m only getting started but I’ve already purchased the following items. Just click the pics for more info.
