Favorite Lanterns

A few days ago my husband said, “So, you’ve about got the whole house furnished and decorated, right?” Not even close, honey. But I did find some lanterns on clearance at Kirkland’s this week so I thought I’d share my favorite lanterns.

I love my vase that sits on one side of my fireplace hearth. I found it at Hobby Lobby a few months ago. However, I have never found the perfect piece to go on the other side. Everything is either too small or too large.

I want something a little smaller on the other side, but I don’t want it to be too small (like those puny things below). 🙂

I snapped this photo with my phone as I was trying to find new artwork on my Frame TV.

After eyeing lanterns for a while on Pottery Barn but refusing to pay full price, my BFF cousin, Linda, let me know about some that were on clearance. I was so excited until I noticed the clearance price was in-store only and South Park (the nearest Pottery Barn store) was sold out. Boo!

I kept looking and finally found one I love at Kirkland’s. It is on clearance too so I went ahead and purchased all three sizes. I’ll share all the info at the bottom of this post.

My lanterns haven’t arrived yet but they are white and faintly outlined with gold. They are currently on sale and I’ve included them down below in the photos of my favorite lanterns.

I’ll post a photo of how they look on my fireplace hearth when they arrive.

How To Decorate With Lanterns

You can use lanterns in so many different places and in different ways.

Lanterns are beautiful lining porch steps or walkways, especially during the Christmas season. During fall, you can fill your outdoor lanterns with pumpkins or gourds. Use inexpensive ball ornaments during the holiday season or add sand and seashells during the summertime.

You can also add faux succulents to a lantern. This is so pretty during the summer months.

Of course, you can also use candles in your lanterns. I love the battery-operated candles with the flickering “flame.” They look so real!

You can use lanterns on a fireplace hearth (like I’m doing) or on a fireplace mantel.

When you’re styling a shelf, don’t forget about lanterns. They come in all shapes and sizes. You can also use lanterns on a coffee table or console. Some lanterns can be hung from the wall.

Lanterns are beautiful as part of a centerpiece on a dining table, inside or outside. You can let your imagination go wild when it comes to decorating with lanterns.

Helpful Hint: If I’m using lanterns on the lanai, I use the kind without glass. I don’t allow glass anywhere near the pool.
