Favorite Bible Verses For New House
Yesterday, in the freezing cold, my husband and I blessed our new build by writing our favorite Bible verses on the doorposts of just about every room in the house.
It’s been so cold and rainy here in SC! It started raining last Thursday evening and rained the entire weekend. Thankfully it was sunny yesterday!
Favorite Bible Verses
After the workers left yesterday, my husband and I visited Woodside Haven (our new build) with markers in hand to bless our house and write scriptures on the doorposts.
The wind was bitter and my eyes were watering but we did it. My husband has one more scripture he wants to write and we will be done. I didn’t get a photo of his verses but I will include them here.
Deuteronomy 11:20 (referring to the words/commandments of God) – And thou shalt write them upon the doorposts of thine house, and upon thy gates.
Items You’ll Need For Favorite Bible Verses
This wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment thing with us. We don’t take this lightly so we planned by looking up scriptures we wanted to write in our new home.
I saved my scriptures in the notes app on my phone. That way, I didn’t have to take the time to look up scripture.
I used a red sharpie and my husband used a black sharpie. Right in the middle, the grandkids stopped by to see us so they were part of this special moment as well.
I can’t help it, I write big and it takes a lot of space on the studs. I suggest keeping the scriptures short and to the point. You’ll notice that I wrote one really long one.
The lumber wasn’t completely dry in some places and I didn’t realize how difficult it can be to write on some of the lumber.
New Build Update
Since I last posted about the building process, studs have gone up on the first floor and the cement for the garage has been poured. Now the boards are going up on the outside walls.
Windows were finally ordered! We first started the window process in early December. I can’t believe it’s February and the windows just now got ordered. It should be a 5-6 week turnaround. I pray there’s no delay.
I sometimes think about how far along we’d be if they could work a full week without rain. But I remind myself that it’s a process and all is well.
Because so many items are on backorder, I like to get ahead of the game. That’s why there’s a huge freestanding tub in my current dining room. That’s the only place it will fit.
Here is a photo of one side of the garage. It’s a three-car garage and very roomy. I didn’t pick the house plan because of the garage but it’s a bonus because right now we don’t even have a garage and it’s something I’ve missed since moving to SC in August of 1992. Yes, it’s been a while!
