Favorite White Interior Paint
I haven’t made the final decision on the exact paint I’m going with for the interior walls of my new modern farmhouse but I know the walls will definitely be white. Below I’m listing all of my very favorite white interior paint colors.
Yes, they will all be the same color and yes, they will be a shade of white. Find out more about our new coastal-vibe modern farmhouse build.
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve already lived through so many trends, including the dark and moody trend and I’m just not feeling it this time around. I’ve had the green walls that are trending now and I’m probably never going back.
I’m a light and bright kinda girl. I love natural light so when it comes to windows, the more the merrier.
White Interior Paint Can Be Tricky
White paint can be tricky, especially interior paint. The undertones can come out loud and proud in different types of lighting.
That’s why it’s so important to try different white paint samples. You need to see how the paint looks on your interior walls and in different lighting situations. Look at the sample paint in the morning, afternoon, and evening. I love the paint samples from Samplize. Samplize is large peel-and-stick samples of real paint with no mess.
Helpful Hint: Paint samples look different in the store. For me, it’s a must to try them out in my own home before making a decision.
Warm, Cool, or Neutral White Interior Paint?
When it comes to white paint, you can go with warm, cool, or neutral paint.
Warm white will balance out the cool light in a north-facing room. Cooler whites will balance the bright yellow sunshine in a south-facing room and when the light is just right, go with a neutral white.
After several years of living with builder beige in my current home, I want a white that doesn’t have yellow undertones because I’m just not a fan of yellow.
Favorite White Interior Paint
Pure White by Sherwin Williams
Pure White by Sherwin Williams is probably the color I’m going with. I say probably because you know, by the end of this build, anything can happen.
Pure White has no blue, yellow, or pink undertones. It’s beautiful and elegant. I’ll certainly try a few samples before making up my mind.
White Dove by Benjamin Moore
White Dove is my second choice. It’s a warm white and is a big contender for my exterior walls. Yes, the exterior of my house will be white with black accents. I promise it will all come together without looking stark.
White Dove usually reads a crisp white. It has warm, creamy undertones that can also show as a greige.
It’s so important to try a few samples before fully committing.
Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore
Chantilly Lace is a pure white that has a subtle (very subtle) cool gray undertone. It’s clean and bright without feeling sterile. This is another one of my top contenders.
Snowbound by Sherwin Williams
Snowbound is a cool and crisp white with a slight gray undertone (and hints of beige) when compared to other whites.
Paper White by Benjamin Moore
Paper White is another white paint that has a cool, slightly gray undertone.
Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore
Swiss Coffee is a beautiful, warm creamy white that has been popular for years.
Alabaster by Sherwin Wiliams – Another Favorite White Interior Paint
Alabaster is another very popular white paint color for interiors and exteriors. (This is another one I’ve considered for the exterior of my home.) It’s a go-to interior color for walls and shiplap. Alabaster is a warm, soft white. It has neutral beige undertones and is sometimes considered off-white.
Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore
Decorator’s White has cool undertones and I consider this off-white because it contains a little gray. It’s a softer version of Chantilly Lace.
What Color Trim and Ceiling Paint Do I Use With White Walls?
Because white colors have undertones, it’s best to stick with the same white you use to paint the walls. Use flat on the ceilings and a semi-gloss on the trim and baseboards.
